San Francisco, CA (PRWEB) May 15, 2012

San Francisco dentist Dr. Samer Itani of Itani Dental is appearing on KRON 4 News today and throughout the upcoming months with segments about the in-home dental visits and sleep and sedation dentistry services that he offers to the Bay Area.

Sometimes patients have special needs or limitations that make visiting a dentist difficult, so Dr. Itani provides unique services such as house calls as a way to break down the barriers that keep patients from receiving quality dental care.

During the next segment airing, on Tuesday, May 15 at 8:45 pm, Dr. Itani explains his “Dentistry to Your Door” services that he provides to patients located within a 60 mile radius of his San Francisco office.

“Overall, our goal is to break through location, treatment and economic barriers so every patient gets the care they need,” said Dr. Itani. “One way of doing this is by providing a full spectrum of dental services in our office, as well as in a patient’s home or hospital.”

With a dental hygienist and portable equipment, Dr. Itani is able to perform many services during his in-home visits, including general dentistry, exams, cleanings, digital x-rays, fillings, oral cancer screenings, removal of infected teeth and dentures. Candidates for in-home care range from the elderly who are homebound or in a nursing home, people who are in the hospital or wheelchair bound, patients who have special needs like cognitive or physical disorders, and patients who struggle with dental phobias.

Dr. Itani has worked with special care and special needs patients for over a decade, and has extensive experience with sedation dentistry, which he can also perform at a local hospital. His affiliations with California Pacific Medical Center (CPMC Sutter Health) and Kaiser Permanente in San Francisco and San Rafael allow him to use general anesthesia or intravenous (I.V) sedation at his office during sedation dentistry treatments.

Itani Dental also provides mobile dental screening for groups (senior centers, churches, residential centers), and delivers personalized assessments and coordination with case managers, caregivers and senior care facilities.

Dr. Itani will provide an example of an in-home dental visit in another segment, which will air on KRON 4 news on Monday, June 18 at 6:45 pm and show Dr. Itani working onsite at a patient’s home.

Crisalix 3D Face simulator

(PRWEB) May 09, 2012

A survey conducted in Switzerland between 2007 and 2010 showed that 90% of women would prefer to consult a doctor using a 3D simulator over a doctor using standard methods for showing post-surgical results [Crisalix]. Any decision to modify one’s physical appearance cannot be taken lightly and being able to see the final result beforehand helps in clarifying desires and expectations. This contributes to improving the decision-making and overall post-procedure satisfaction.

Any plastic surgeon, dermatologist or aesthetic professional can now show their patient an accurate simulation of the final results of every facial modification, with Crisalix’s 3D Face simulator. With Crisalix the physician or specialist can simulate any type of facial aesthetic procedure, such as Botox®, dermal fillers, cleaning of moles and veins, wart removal, but also plastic surgery procedures such as rhinoplasty, facelift, browlift, eyelift, fat injection, facial implants, earlobe repair, facial liposuction, cranio-maxillofacial surgery, eyebrow lift, chin enhancement & more.

In 2011, the total number of cosmetic procedures in the US reached over 13.8 billion, representing a 5% increase over 2010 and an 87% increase since the year 2000 (http://www.guardian.co.uk). The worldwide market is expected to grow by more than 10% per year during the next 5 years (http://www.imcas.com). This trend clearly shows that people are increasingly concerned about their appearance. 3D simulation applications have only started started being used a few years ago in this field.

About Crisalix

Crisalix 3D Face is a continuation of the existing Crisalix 3D Mammo, the first cloud-based 3D breast implant simulation tool for plastic surgery, based on the physical properties of the body. With only 3 standard digital photos, Crisalix can generate a 3D model of the patients’s pre-procedure face. The physician or specialist can then present the patient with simulations of a wide variety of facial aesthetic procedures to show what their post-procedure face could look like.

Within one year of commercial activity, this existing technology for breast augmentation has already enabled Plastic Surgeon clients in over 70 countries to benefit from state-of-the-art 3D simulations, thereby helping their patients express their desires and expectations to further improve post-procedure satisfaction, as ongoing patient studies demonstrate [Crisalix].

Based in the fastest growing life science cluster in the world, The Swiss Institute of Technology of Lausanne (EPFL), Switzerland, and collaborating with renowned academic R&D centers such as the Institute of Surgical Technology and Biomechanics (ISTB) of the University of Bern, and the Department of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery of the National Hospital also located in Bern, Crisalix brings together the latest advancements in surgical and aesthetics technology, 3D and information technology. Crisalix’s 3D simulations recently underwent a Clinical Validation, published in Journal of Medical Internet Research (http://www.jmir.org), which confirmed the high level of precision of Crisalix’s web-based, instantaneous 3D simulations.

IPRAS (International Confederation for Plastic, Reconstructive, and Aesthetic Surgery) recommends Crisalix for the significant progress Crisalix brings to the entire medical community and its contribution to providing the highest level of patient care.

Crisalix is already supported by the world’s most recognized plastic surgeons and a Medical Advisory Board that includes, amongst others, Prof. Yves-Gérard Illouz (inventor of liposuction), Prof. Thomas Biggs (Editor-in-Chief, IPRAS Journal) and Prof. Jan Poell (President of the ISAPS – International Society of Aesthetic Plastic Surgery).

“Contrary to most Medical 3D imaging systems which are rapidly obsolete, Crisalix has developed an easy-to-use 3D simulation ‘software-as-a-service’ based on “normal” 2D pictures of the patient’s body or face. By providing accurate and clinically validated 3D images, Crisalix’s software is indispensable in providing highest level of patient satisfaction.”

Jean-Luc Levy, M.D., Member, European Society of Laser Dermatology

(PRWEB) May 09, 2012

In a sea of reports of death by the hand of this disease, one voice causes a ripple by shouting back “Hell no, not me~”. The C Card and Me is the true to life story of how one self proclaimed couch potato turned a daunting diagnosis into an inspiring, humorous and somewhat irreverent tale of triumph over stage IV cancer. The book is written in plain speak, as a conversation between herself and someone who’s been newly diagnosed. With her refusal to follow customary grammatical rules, such as her fondness of the tilde vs the exclamation point and a propensity to swear, she brings a certain authenticity and character to the read as she shares her insights, anecdotes and lessons learned to help smooth the road ahead for those dealing with cancer and for their loved ones.

When asked what inspired her to write the book, she responded, “The day I was diagnosed my head was reeling. Man, how I wish someone had handed me an insider’s guide like this from day one. One that I could’ve read in a day, that would’ve calmed my racing heart and replaced the fear and trepidation we were all feeling with hope and understanding.”

Her mission: “to remove fear from the equation and relegate this punk-ass disease to the ranks of others that are now mere shadows in our history.”

This Amazon customer review sums it up by saying, “This book should be in every Doctor’s office and a part of every cancer patient’s care package. It’s a well written account of a woman’s journey through the illness and the story of her triumph of over the big mean cancer. Her story is told with humility and wit and unvarnished truth. If you’ve been diagnosed, read the book. If your loved one has been diagnosed, read the book. If someone you know has been diagnosed, give them the book. It is clear that her healing was fueled by more than the medication she was given, it was fueled by determination, knowledge, the love of friends and family, and by hope. Well done!!!” – Gail Nigro

The C Card and Me is now available on Amazon.com and the ebook is available exclusively on Amazon Kindle and in the Amazon Kindle Owner’s Lending Library. You can find out more about the book at: http://www.theccardandme.com and on The C Card and Me Facebook page.

Washington, DC (PRWEB) May 04, 2012

The Washington Chapter of the American Institute of Architects (AIA|DC) is pleased to announce the exhibition opening of Could Be: The AIA|DC Awards for Unbuilt Architecture today at the District Architecture Center’s SIGAL Gallery. The exhibition presents winners from the first four years of the Washington UNBUILT Awards program, a competition created by AIA|DC in response to the global economic crisis that brought many architectural projects to a halt. The awards recognize and celebrate projects that are commissioned but not yet built, as well as concepts that are entirely theoretical. These criteria provide a broad base of imaginative and thought-provoking submissions that explore and encourage what projects in and around Washington “could be.”

“This exhibition displays a cross-section of talent that spans from students to registered professionals with some of the most well-known architecture firms in the country,” says Mary Fitch, Executive Director of the AIA|DC. “In that aspect, I think it’s one of the most unique design competitions and exhibits we have in the city.”

The exhibition is organized by the National Building Museum and presented in partnership with The American Institute of Architects, AIA Legacy, ARCHITECT Magazine, Hanley Wood, the Washington Chapter of the American Institute of Architects (AIA|DC), and the Washington Architectural Foundation. Award winning projects are being displayed at the District Architecture Center’s SIGAL Gallery between May 3rd and June 30th.

Honor Award: Ronit Eisenbach, Sky Frames: Instruments of Discovery

(PRWEB UK) 28 March 2012

Plenty of fun was had by all this weekend as local businesses and bands teamed up with SportsDirect.com to help raise money for Sport Relief 2012. The ecommerce and buying department at SportsDirect.com head office in Shirebrook, Mansfield put together an evening of music, prizes and lots of cake at Shirebrook Miners Welfare on Saturday 24th March. A huge thank you goes out to the staff at the popular Shirebrook venue for providing the All Stars disco as well as the ideal venue for the event.

The gig, which featured local bands Dirty Beard, Crimson Circle, Without Our Crowns and Suckerpunch raised an amazing total of £751. Raffle prizes included donations from local Mansfield businesses Brown’s bar and restaurant and William James barber shop. Emma Parker, who helped organise the event said “The night was a great success, we had a fantastic line up of local bands who put on a superb show for us. We want to say a big thank you to Alan and the team at Shirebrook Miners Welfare who hosted the event as well as William James barbers and Browns for donating raffle prizes for the cause- we couldn’t have done it without their help. It was great to see everyone supporting Sport Relief”. The web and buying team also held several eBay auctions for signed Football shirts, Rugby shirts and Football boots to contribute to the huge Sport Relief fundraising total.

The fun didn’t stop there! On Sunday 25th March, in addition to the Shirebrook Sport Relief mile, SportsDirect.com organised a family fun day on Shirebrook Market Square. The event included; fair rides for the kids, visits from TV’s Igglepiggle and Upsy Daisy, a raffle plus various fundraising activities from Shirebrook Rangers football team, Button Bashers and more. Organiser Chris Dean said “It was fantastic to see everyone get involved, special thanks go out to Proctor and Son’s fair, Jump for Joy inflatables, the Shirebrook Co-op and Ex-servicemen’s club for donating their services and raffle prizes for the day”.

Many of Shirebrook’s local businesses based on the Market Square got involved with the event, as well as SportsDirect.com team members from both head office and the Shirebrook store. The fun day raised £3147 in total for Sport Relief, adding to the one million plus total already raised by SportsDirect.com. You can still get involved this year by buying the official Sport Relief t-shirt from http://www.sportsdirect.com as well as logging on to the official Facebook and Twitter pages to show how you raised money this year!

Omaha, NE (PRWEB) April 28, 2012

OTTR™ Chronic Care Solutions, an Omaha-based clinical process management and informatics company, recently announced the launch of its new OTTRbmt™ – Pediatric Bone Marrow Stem Cell Transplant Patient Management System. According to CEO Lou Halperin, “This Pediatric enhancement to our OTTRbmt™ solution is the next step in OTTR™ Chronic Care Solutions’ commitment to improving pediatric patient care and physician acceptance in the field of bone marrow stem cell transplant medicine.”

OTTRbmt™ – Pediatric Bone Marrow Stem Cell Transplant Patient Management System extends the standard bone marrow stem cell transplant management system, which currently services the adult demographic. This system has proven integration to multiple EMR, Lab, and HIS systems in conjunction with ongoing interface work in the realm of AGNIS and other registries.

“Our software allows Pediatric BMT teams to track and access hundreds of pieces of vital donor and recipient data for mobilization and collections. In turn, that allows the medical staff to spend more time with the kids and less time with paperwork,” said CTO Paul Kenyon. “Plus, it simultaneously correlates donor and recipient information, stores and tracks information for reporting to registries, documents GVHD status, and captures insurance and payer information.”

OTTRbmt™ is intended for use by BMT centers that are managing pediatric patients. OTTRbmt™ provides long-term longitudinal patient centered transplant records for clinical follow-up and management of pediatric BMT patients.

About OTTR™ Chronic Care Solutions

Headquartered in Omaha, Nebraska, OTTR™ Chronic Care Solutions develops unique state-of-the-art software products that improve the quality of patient care, workflow management, and operational efficiencies for the healthcare industry. The Company’s premier product, OTTR™, was developed as a break-through patient tracking application and clinical information system (CIS) developed specifically for solid organ transplant centers. OTTR™ has been extended to support bone marrow transplant (BMT), stem cell, ventricular assist devices (VAD), and bariatric surgery.

(PRWEB) April 24, 2012

Deborah Schweizer, partner with one of the nation’s leading mesothelioma law firms, Clapper, Patti, Schweizer & Mason (CPSM), will attend the Harvard Medical School Asbestos Related Pulmonary Disease Conference offered by the Massachusetts General Hospital Department of Medicine in Boston in two weeks, Saturday and Sunday, May 5-6, 2012. The conference will not only cover an in-depth understanding of asbestos related diseases but will also focus on new information regarding diagnosis, management and treatment of mesothelioma and asbestosis.

Other prime areas of focus will be:

     Diagnoses of malignant mesothelioma
Diagnosis of asbestosis and asbestos related pleural disease
Most effective imaging techniques for diagnosis of mesothelioma and asbestos related diseases
Quantitation of asbestos in tissue samples

The course is particularly relevant to anyone who is part of either the mesothelioma patient’s medical team or legal team. It’s important that asbestos attorneys have the ability to accurately review, understand and explain the pathology of malignant mesothelioma both to clients as well as jurors. And although mesothelioma attorneys do not give medical advice, knowing the best, most effective and up-to-date methods of diagnosing and treating mesothelioma is very useful to clients.

Mesothelioma is a terminal form of asbestos cancer with no cure and very short life expectancy from time of diagnosis. Therefore, being able to share with clients all the mesothelioma treatment options available when they first call is crucial.

Deborah Schweizer, as well as all the attorneys at CPSM, goes above and beyond to help her clients get the best legal representation with the least intrusion to the patient and their family’s life. Part of the firm’s exceptional reputation is based on the fact that in addition to being experts in mesothelioma law, CPSM is also deeply committed to helping clients stay current with the latest advances in medical management of mesothelioma and asbestosis.

About Clapper, Patti, Schweizer & Mason

Unlike larger law firms that are diversified in their areas of practice, CPSM prides itself not only in being a pioneer in the area of mesothelioma law, but also exclusively handling only asbestos lawsuits. This focus allows them to offer unparalleled representation and expert information to clients and their families who are coping with mesothelioma or asbestosis. If you have been diagnosed with an asbestos related disease and want the best representation possible, call today at 1-800-440-4262 to speak directly with an attorney for a no-cost case evaluation.

Sussex, WI (PRWEB) April 21, 2012

Max-R’s blog offers a unique and specific focus as it discusses recycling and sustainability efforts at colleges & universities. 50 blog posts isn’t necessarily anything special in and of itself. Rather it’s the depth and breadth of knowledge that marks this as a major milestone for Max-R. Not to mention the fact that the blog has been live for less than one year and the posts themselves often surpass 1000 words, above the standard length for the typical post. “We’re excited to reach this milestone of 50 blog posts!” Said Mark Hammer, Executive Vice President of Max-R. “We started the blog about a year ago to serve as a resource for our customers and others. Judging by the feedback we’ve gotten, it’s been a great resource for people within education and beyond.” Said Hammer.

The blog is primarily written by veteran recycling professional, Roger Guzowski, a prolific public speaker and past leader in several state and national collegiate recycling councils. Roger has been actively involved in organizations including MassRecycle, the California Resource Recovery Association, the Northeast Resource Recovery Association, and the National Recycling Coalition. Roger’s diverse experience coupled with a unique perspective gives the blog its voice.

Topics on the blog run the gamut from starting and expanding a recycling program, to funding your program, taking safety measures, tracking your recycling efforts with various metrics, choosing the right bins, green building topics, recycling education and more – too much to list!

Occasionally, a more topical post makes its way onto the blog as today’s post pertaining to Earth Day rapidly approaching April 22. It’s not the typical Earth Day post reading, “Earth Day is again upon us. For some it is the beginning of the annual migration of the groove band and hippie drum circle.” Said Roger Guzowski. The post isn’t all disparaging though as Roger goes on, “I see green-building standards increasingly part of the building codes in many areas. In my personal life, I see signs of hope as well. I blog for a company that makes high-aesthetic recycling containers almost entirely out of recycled plastic, and uses wind power to do so. [..] I look around at campus Facilities & Physical Plant operations across the country and see a surprising number of service and trades workers in electric cars where you once would have seen idling gas and diesel engines.”

Max-R’s blog offers an interesting and informative read for sustainability professionals, recycling coordinators, facilities personnel and anyone interested in getting an insider’s perspective into a variety of recycling topics.

Glen Traeger and his musical ensemble, the Glen Traeger Orchestra, decided to continue assisting its clients survive the economic downturn by offering them diverse and affordable musical packages that wont “put too much of a dent” in their pockets and still deliver great music.

“Glen Traeger Orchestra is here for our clients, we understand that times are tough and that maybe there are place they can cut back on, but when celebrating something special, never cut back, just come to us and we will help,” said Glen Traeger, founder of the Glen Traeger Orchestra. “We will always work with our clients and find the very best music and entertainment that fits their needs and their budgets. It is our goal to take our clients visions and turn them into reality.”

Recently, Glen Traeger noticed several of his corporate clients trying to scale back on the size and costs of their upcoming events, so Glen Traeger decided to help them overcome their financial constraints by offering and providing smaller musical options, such as piano players, jazz trio’s and disc jockeys for their events.

Glen Traeger Orchestra members, and Glen Traeger, spoke to the representatives of the large companies, explaining that company events are essential for profitable company performance.

“When employees feel as if they are important assets to their company, and that their company cares about their well being, employees will then perform better,” Glen Traeger said. “We are now going to start offering smaller and less expensive musical options such as piano players and jazz trio’s for background music and DJ’s for dancing.”
